TRAVEL DIARY: CINQUE TERRE (RIOMAGGIORE, MONTEROSSO, VERNAZZA, CORNIGLIA & MANAROLA)

Words cannot describe how picturesque Cinque Terre is. I literally broke into tears the first time I laid eyes on Riomaggiore's breathtakingly beautiful landscape. Moments like this make me realize how fortunate I am to travel to faraway places like Italy.

Let me tell you guys a little something about the Cinque Terre region. The rugged portion of the coast on the Italian Riviera is primarily composed of five villages namely Riomaggiore, Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia and Manarola, hence, the name "Cinque Terre" which literally translates to "five lands". The charming Cinque Terre is a very popular tourist destination. You can conveniently take the train or the ferry from La Spezia to get to one village to another. Just make sure to carefully check the schedule to avoid missing your stop like what happened to me when I mistakenly boarded the wrong train. But it was alright since  this is how I typically end up discovering the most unexpected places and meeting the most interesting people. No wonder I don't mind getting lost at all whenever I am traveling.

So what was my favorite village among the five? Tough question. Most probably Riomaggiore because of its postcard-worthy sceneries. And what was my least favorite? Well, I have to give it to Corniglia because of the long, exhausting uphill hike from the train station to the village. It was definitely a workout by the time you reach the top of the hike.
Anyway, here are some random snaps I took during my memorable trip to Cinque Terre. Enjoy!
