TRAVEL DIARY: ODAIBA EXPRESS

Odaiba is one of the districts in Tokyo you shouldn't miss specially if you're into Gundam, video games and of course shopping! The man-made island in Tokyo Bay was originally built in the 1850s to protect Tokyo against attacks from the sea. It was eventually expanded to become a seaport district. Today, it has transformed into a futuristic residential and commercial district which is very popular among locals and tourists alike.

Among the landmarks that should be in your itinerary are the Statue of Liberty replica, the life-sized Gundam statue, the enormous color-changing Daikanrasha Ferris wheel and the Venice-themed Venice Port shopping mall! You can practically spend the entire day exploring this area.

To get to Odaiba, take the Yurikamome line! Do not hesitate to ask around since most of the people who work at the metro speak relatively good English.
